Meet the owner

Opening her own business was a shoe-in for Danielle Fawcett, who first opened The Shoe Closet as the answer to Cochrane’s growing need for boutique shoe shopping. A radiation therapist with a business savvy streak, Danielle knew a curated shoe store with high end European footwear was exactly what the people of Cochrane needed – and she was right.

As her business grew, Danielle learned many of her customers were driving all the way in from Calgary to shop at her store. One of the biggest complaints she heard was that Calgary needed more boutique shoe stores. So when it came time for her to expand, she decided to open her second location in Calgary. “I can count on one hand how many boutique shoe stores there are in this city – which is crazy,” Danielle says. “I knew in Calgary I’d have a lot more competition because of the big box stores and the malls. But I thought I’d go and see.”

After spending a day wandering around the city in search of potential store locations, Danielle wasn’t entirely sure what she was looking for. But she knew she’d found her second home when she came to Inglewood. “We spent a ton of time here in Inglewood and I wanted to go into every store. The stores are just so unique and individual and I just wanted to look,” she explains. “This was the only space available at the time and it was perfect.” On April 18, 2017, Danielle opened the doors to The Shoe Closet’s second location in the heart of Inglewood and has been helping Calgarians find their perfect shoes ever since.

    I love the shoes I have found in The Shoe Closet, they are so cute and the support is excellent, Im on my feet all day. I have three pairs now, going to get boots soon! The european brands are a perfect combo of fashion and walking comfort.
